Professor Priest of Living Matter Angoteh Phar looked down upon his work table, craggy brow furrowed, deep wrinkles like valleys rising to the greying edges of his hairline. Potted plants lined the long edge of the table where it leaned against the wall of his secure research laboratory, several different varieties with thick broad leaves or sharp vertical blade like structures sat beneath the long windows. Only darkness shone through the panels of glass at this hour of the morning.

A pair of mirrored lamps reflected light from the pure white flames that burned on wicks set in vessels of the purest oil in the kingdoms. That light illuminated the myriad of dishes and trays arranged before him, flasks of red and amber hued liquids and a palm sized polished stone box that looked like it was carved from the blue ice beneath the glaciers at the far northern frontier of the enemy’s land.
