Karl's Last Flight - the first bits excerpt
Originally published in 2006
This is the prologue and first chapter of the first novel I ever wrote. Originally published as a audio only podcast novel in 20 half-hour episodes via a site called Podiobooks (now called scribl.com) it was a bit of a hit in those circles, garnering tens of thousands of downloads in the early days, and launching not only my writing career but my audiobook narration career. Self-published in ebook and paperback it was moved over to Audible a couple of years later and in 2015 was picked up by Winlock Press, an imprint of Permuted Press and is still out there in audiobook, ebook, and print if you’d like to read the whole story. Karl’s Last Flight is also the book that introduces my character Kharzai, not included in this bit as he comes in with the following chapters, although it would be another decade before I came to realize exactly who/what Kharzai really was.
