Argan the Warrior #3
The tall mountain man, Kaz, walked the first part of the trail, less than a mile, with his wife Renee, their daughter Jessica, and her husband, Shtokut.
“You will stay in the village with the family,” Kaz told his wife, “until we have defeated the giants. It is safer in large numbers.”
Left unsaid was that numbers saved no one in the Blue Eagle village. But he was certain hundreds of people would stand a better chance than scores of people had.
Argan and the bearded shaman hung back, allowing the family to walk ahead. The two of them spoke in the old tongue between themselves, the language from before the breaking of the world.
“What are you doing here?” Argan demanded.
“The previous shaman was killed in the battle that also took the late chief,” said the shaman. “I was hired as his replacement.”
