The initial concept for story of KAZ came from tales of ancient giants throughout history combined. Two stories in particular directly influenced me here. First was the Lovelock Giants of New Mexico that terrorized and cannibalized local Paiute tribes until the native inhabitants chased them into a cave and burned them alive. In 1911 guano miners digging out Lovelock Cave discovered what were reported the bones of giants, and subsequent archeological studies of the cave found evidence of very hot fires that scorched the place in the past. The other came from accounts of the Spanish Explorer Ferdinand Magellan’s expedition in 1520. In what is now southern Chile and Patagonia, a region that borders modern-day Chile and Argentina they encountered the Tehuelche people. According to Magellan’s chronicler, Antonio Pigafetta, they encountered a man dancing naked on the shore who was so tall that the tallest Spaniard only reached his waist. Magellan attempted to bring two of the giants from these people back to Spain, but they died en route.
What if some of these giants were not human at all, but were descendents of the Nephilim from the ancient past. Monsters that survived the flood and dwell mostly beneath the earth, deep in dark caverns, and resurface from time to time when they discover easy food sources.
