This is the point in the story where things get weird…
Okay…weirder.
From the perspective of realism: What is the likelihood that an ancient civilisation would leave behind such high tech structures and equipment that have never been discovered? Even if it were left behind, what are the chances it would still function?
The answer as to how such powerful and obviously manmade locations such as that which the team discovers in Control Room #3 could exist but never be discovered is obvious: Highly likely.
How would anyone know where to look for such things?
Look at all of the ancient civilisations that have been found over the last two centuries. Mycenae, Troy, Gobekli-Tepe, Mohenjo-daro, and many many others that either appeared in ancient historical texts but were assumed to be mythical or did not appear in any text, but were uncovered by accident and turned out to be entire massive cultures with writing systems we have no idea how to translate and not a single mention in the known historical record, but clearly they existed with cities as large as those we live in today.
How would anyone without a point of reference for what they are seeing know how to translate what is before them?
There are numerous cultures for which we find copious amounts of written texts on clay tablets or carved into stone but lack any way to translate the texts before us. Mycenaen Linear A for example, a script that remains an utter mystery although found in large quantities alongside a similar fully translated proto-Greek script called Linear B. Likewise with Indus Valley scripts found at Mohenjo-dara, thousands of texts of have remained undeciphered for more than a century. And others such as the proto-Elamite script of Jiroft in southern Iran dated to over 5000 years ago, yet with no known way to decode its words. This is to say that, while they left us copious amounts of information and data on who they were, what they were doing, and their religious and cultural specifics, we have no idea how to read their documentation.
Why have we never (as far as that which is publicly acknowledged) heard of legitimate discoveries of such ancient technologies as these described in KAZ?
I would conjecture that we have heard of such discoveries, its just that they are either broken and no longer functional, or that they may work perfectly fine, we just have no idea what they are or how to use them. I mean, do you really believe that the pyramids of Giza were merely multi-billion dollar tombs in which no one was ever buried? Or that massive underwater ruins of places like Yonaguni Japan are truly just “natural formations”?
We may find the places, but without context and a decipherable written record of their true purpose we have no idea what they were for beyond being a man made structure for some general (and unknown) purpose. Why do you think so many structures discovered by archaeologists that are other than an obvious and simple houses or barns are usually described as “ritual”, “ceremonial” or “sacred”. What if they were just the ancient equivalent of office buildings or mechanic shops?
Almost daily new information is being discovered about the complex Tepe cultures across Turkey and Mesopatamia that are presently believed to be over 12,000 years old, evidence that demonstrates they were considerably more advanced than we ever imagined, and yet we really have no idea who they were, cannot decipher their inscriptions, and cannot find any reference to them in any documents of the past that we can read. Perhaps if we figure out Indus Valley, Linear A, and proto-Elamite we will discover that they knew perfectly well all about each other, and wrote down everything we need to avoid the fates that left them buried out of memory for eons, never imagining their entire language, spoken by millions in their day, would vanish so completely as to be relegated with their people to the pages of myth and fantasy.
Of course, another option is that the purpose of these places, and their potential power, is indeed known but those in charge of discovery have simply concealed it in hopes of harnessing the power for their own ends?
You tell me, if a government or some super rich megalomaniac discovered a source of energy similar to that onto which Kaz et al have stumbled, do you really think they would tell the world? Or would they work for as long as it took to figure it out in secret, then harness it and make the same attempt Argan did with it…to rule the world with ultimate power.
